Horse of the Year Show has a very special Cover Boy

October sees the crucial event in any equestrian's diary - The Horse of the Year Show - held at the NEC. As with the last three years, Splatt is extremely proud to have designed the printed literature used for the sales campaign leading up to the Show. This year was particularly special though, because Jenny of Splatt Design's own horse was the face of HOYS, prominent on every leaflet, poster, programme and advert. Even the HOYS Show Jump, seen live on Sky every evening during the Show, featured him. Admittedly, she did have to change his colour to grey to enhance the designs!

Home Upgrades is an internet-based system providing the home owner with all essential trades through a single, client focussed point of contact. Case Studies

HOYS Diamond Jubilee

In celebration of Horse of the Year Show's 60th anniversary, Grandstand Group commissioned Splatt to design their very special commemorative material.

The project starts with a Diamond Jubilee version of the HOYS logo to be used for the year. Visitor leaflets and a comprehensive trade and consumer advertising campaigns followed, featuring vintage images of equestrian celebrities from years gone by. At the great show itself, more commemorative material included posters, sashes, horse rugs, carrier bags and programmes. Splatt's fondest piece, however, was the commemorative Show Jump, which played a central role in the Show Jumping championships. 56,000 visitors graced the NEC for Horse of the Year Show's special celebration of 60 glorious years. The Show was a complete sell-out and no one was disappointed with what has been hailed as one of the most entertaining HOYS to date.

Brunch Box

Based near Bristol, the Brunch Box is a cafe that prides itself on its freshly made breakfast and brunch menu, boasting "the best breakfast in Bristol". However, local competition is fierce, so Splatt was commissioned to try to help boost sales.

The project started with the fascia, designing several logo options that would work for the huge space available. Once the logo design was agreed, the striking burgundy red and chrome fascia and smart glass screens around the garden were created, instantly transforming the look of the cafe.

Attention then turned to promoting their menu items, detailing choices to suit the season - ie freshly made smoothies and shakes whilst the weather is hot. Bright, colourful flyers and A Frame posters were designed to be unmissable to passing trade. Simple little cards held by crocodile clips on the tables promote current meal deals and special offers. The plan is to keep the offers evolving so returning customers always have something new to try.

It is still early days, but managing director David Wiltshire is overjoyed with the immediate results "Well, we have just had the best ever Saturday and Sunday…an increase of more than 30% over the best previous day!! I was even dragged in to act as a waiter on Saturday!! It does really demonstrate that there is a massive demand for the product that we are offering…and that the changes made with your help are working...
The café is going from strength to strength…incredible really, nearly up 100% in 2 months!..."
